Do I have to be a member to attend an Occasions event?

No! There is no membership requirement for Occasions at present. Feel free to try an Occasions event. We hope you will want to book the next one!

What is the age range of women who attend Occasions events?

We set out to attract women of all ages: we see women in their twenties coming to Occasions events, right up to women past retirement age! It's probably fair to say, however, that most of our regular attenders are in the middle of this age range. You can be sure that you will be welcome whatever your age.

How much do events cost?

The usual cost of a halled event in 2010 will remain at about £10. We are aware that many people are trying to save money at present, and we aim to keep the cost down: where else can you get an evening's entertainment, complete with refreshments, for that price, and know you will not have to spend another penny, even for parking?

Where an outing or special activity has been booked, the price may vary in order to cover costs; the price will be advertised on posters and the website.

What happens to the revenue from tickets?

Occasions is non-profit making, and the committee members give their time free. We have two sets of costs which are covered by the ticket sales. First, the cost of the events themselves: hall hire, refreshments, speakers etc. Second, we have a number of fixed overheads which must be met: for example, insurance, and the cost of maintaining the website.

If I live outside of the area can I come along?

Yes! We hold most of our events in Pyrford but women from Woking, Woodham, Byfleet, Addlestone and other nearby neighbourhoods are more than welcome to attend.

Who runs Occasions?

Occasions is run by a committee of local women who have volunteered their time. We have a Governing Document which is available on request.
