Meet The Team
As a former civil servant, Fran was the obvious choice to run the admin and paperwork for Occasions.
She lives locally, trains other civil servants now and again, and is mostly a full-time mum to her children. Her hobbies include salsa and bridge.
Meet Deborah our chairperson.
Deborah loves a challenge - just as well being chair of a ladies social group!.
Since Occasions began (Sept 2004) her challenges have included : a skydive, trekking kilimanjaro, completing a half marathon, started a new role facilitating parenting programmes and is currently studying for an OCN in Working with Parents - after having done no formal studying since school(many years ago now !!)
Deborah has one boy at Pyrford Primary school, and one at Fullbrook School.
Deborah relates to the group's moto 'Occasions...Time for You' - it's so important to make time in our busy lives for ourselves - as individual ladies enjoying the company of other local people, including those who you may not normally meet, whilst doing something you may not normally even try !!
Watching the group and the team grow, as a whole and individually, has been a real pleasure and experience in my life.
Dawn is the Treasurer with Occasions and looks after the Hotmail correspondence. She also organises the summer evening walk, which has become an annual event on the Occasions calendar.
Working full time as a finance director for a small publishing company near Redhill, picking up the task of bookkeeping and cash management seemed the easiest task.
“I really enjoy the interaction with other ladies in the area and have made lots of new friends, which, even after living in the area for 12 years was proving impossible to do otherwise. Working full time away from the area and not being a mother has always made it difficult to forge friends locally, and being on the committee of Occasions has been the ideal way to meet new ladies. Giving up just a fraction of time each month has been very rewarding.”
Debbie is a recent recruit to the Occasions team, having taken over event marketing and promotion.
“I have 2 children at Pyrford Primary School, one about to leave and one just starting out! I have enjoyed attending Occasions events since they started in 2004 and was delighted to be asked to join the Committee in 2008. Having had a busy career in Marketing before becoming a full-time Mum, Occasions has enabled me to continue to be creative - without the stress! It gives me a really good excuse to go out and enjoy myself and I have met many new people, who have now become good friends. Come along and sample an Occasions event, you’ll be welcome, enriched and entertained!”
